The LDJA charter authorizes an Executive Board (aka "Executive Committee") to manage the affairs of the organization. The Executive Committee is composed of elected officers, members appointed by the President, Past Presidents who are active judges, nine judges appointed by the President [one judge from each of the seven congressional districts], and one retired judge nominated by the Retired Judges Association. The Judicial Administrator for the Louisiana Supreme Court and Chief Deputy Judicial Administrator are non-voting members. The Chief Deputy Judicial Administrator serves as the Recorder.
Through the Executive Committee, the LDJA nominates or appoint lawyers, judges, and citizens to serve on boards and commissions affecting the judiciary. In addition, the Officers and Members of the Executive Committee of the LDJA study proposals, actions, and decisions affecting the judiciary and make recommendations to the membership for action.
